Danish Medical Expert Niels Lubery Finsen developed an artificial lamp that emulated natural sunlight and conducted research on the physiological and healing impacts of light rays.
Niels research resulted in significant advancements in the treatment of lupus (skin tuberculosis) and this study marked the emergence of light therapy. A light wave found that different wavelengths of light energy can activate the activity of cells and accelerate the metabolism.
In the 1980’s, light therapy made its way into space where NASA harnessed the power of LED (Light Emitting Diodes) to grow plants, help regulate astronaut’s sleep patterns, and heal illnesses or injuries that occurred while travelling deep in space.
